WINTER

The dark days of winter are brightened by the evergreen shrubs, the winter hellebores and the hardy cyclamen covering the rockery and popping up around other beds in the garden. The stems of cornus both red and yellow add contrast. The perfumed flowers on the Viburnum bodnantense ‘Dawn’ and the Lonicera fragrentissima are a joy on a miserable winter’s day. The Hammemelis and the Parrotia persica produce their flowers on the bare branches. Then come the snowdrops and the crocus and the seasons come round again.
